You heard it here first! The votes are in. Coronado is the best beach in the U.S. — and in our humble opinion, it may also be one of the best in the world.
We’ve heard it from the best of them. Just check out these roundups from Traveler, the Travel Channel, and TripAdvisor. They all put Coronado right up there at the top! While they don’t say it outright that it’s the best — they’ve got to play fair; we get it — here’s why Coronado Beach really is the best. And if you haven’t been to town yet, we’ll be honest: you’re missing out.
It’s the best beach destination for families.
Maybe we were born with it. Maybe it’s mica! As one reviewer put it: “Just across the bridge from downtown San Diego you’ll find Coronado Central Beach. Kids will love building castles from sand that glistens year-round thanks to the glittery mineral, mica, which is mixed in with the sand.” All ages can have a great time in Coronado, whether they’re just visiting from San Diego or planned their whole vacation around our little island. We are a kid friendly and pet friendly hotel, too!
Visit with your significant other, or just take some time alone to relax and reset.
Here’s your chance for that romantic getaway you’ve been talking about forever. With fine dining on and off the island, close to the beach…you’ll be well fed for a day of touring, cycling, beach-combing, and more. Our staff are always happy to recommend activities in Coronado and San Diego — whatever suits your style.
Likewise, maybe you’re on a solo trip. Participating in a wedding, fulfilling an act of self-care, just trying to get away from it all. Shake out that blanket and get thee to Coronado Beach!
It’s always a great time of year to visit Coronado.
There’s no “slow season,” but that doesn’t mean we’re overcrowded! You’ll always find plenty of space along our shoreline to camp out for the afternoon. With consistent weather and plenty of sun, there’s no wrong time of year to make the trip. As another reviewer wrote, “One of Southern California’s most popular beaches, Coronado has fine sand, mild surf, and is privy to a Mediterranean climate that makes it a year-round destination.”
